Sri Lanka Tourism Awards 2011 pays tribute to organizations and individuals for their excellence and inspired achievements whilst contributing towards the strengthening and empowering of our nation’s tourism industry. This annual event, held for the 5th consecutive year under the aegis of Sri Lanka Tourism provides an unenviable platform for industry recognition. These accolades also present an opportunity for tourism operators to reinforce their commitment in perpetuating visitor experience and celebrate their success in an evolving business environment. An objective of this year’s Awards is to recognize and reward excellence in the travel and tourism industry, thus promoting and enhancing the delivery of service standards. The winners, chosen by a panel of industry experts, will be announced at the awards ceremony. Sri Lanka Tourism Awards - 2011 was held on 30th August 2012, at the Waters Edge - Battramulla.
Mahinda Chintanaya envisions economic prosperity for all Sri Lankans for which the necessary conducive environment for industries and businesses has already been created by the Government as promised.
Tourism plays a key role in the Economic Development. While taking major steps in infrastructure and product development as well as encouraging investments into the country, we will not fail in our duty to recognize those who have contributed immensely to the industry in various fields of tourism.
Tourism Awards will not only fulfill this obligation but also inspire the recipients and others to perform better in our overall efforts to reach the tourism goals.
Hon. Minister of Economic Development
This year’s Tourism awards will be presented at a time the industry has taken a complete turn towards rapid growth thereby creating more value and employment. This esteemed
ceremony has gone through many refinements and has now become an annual feature
which the Industry is excitedly awaiting.
In addition to the traditional sectors, the awards will recognize the pioneers in the industry as well as those who have excelled in specialized products and services thus making the awards ceremony meaningful to serve its purpose. Steps were also taken to create more awareness among the potential recipients to ensure maximum participation of all relevant segments.
It is heartening to see the enthusiasm of the industry already shown for the Awards and also the team working on this event from various divisions of Sri Lanka Tourism. I am privileged to be a member of that team.
